The intent of the tactile meditation series was to create a series of vessels that move away from glazing as purely decorative surface treatment.
The user is able to engage in mindfulness meditation exercises by running their fingertips along each surface and exploring a different tactile sensation of the vessel each time it is used.
Alternatively, the user may use the meditative process of touching the vessel's surface for contemplation.
As I used each of these vessels over the course of an academic year, I found myself using each as I planned a paper or engaged in some self-reflection.
The stream of tactile sensation can serve as an anchor for meditative awareness to center oneself before preparing for a large task.
